We picked up Auntie Margaret from her house 20 mins away, was great to see her again. Susan then took us to the Sydney Fish market to buy some food for new years dinner and gail hated the sight and smell of all the fish everywhere :( David loved it and especially the seafood platter they shared for lunch, some of the fish was HUGE and Susan bought some prawns, oysters, aussi barumundi and a huge red snapper. The heat was unbelievable today at 32 degrees and it was so hard to breathe with the humidity. After the market David and I were dropped at Darling Harbour for a wander around, the heat was too much so we visited the aquarium for some air conditioning heaven :) It was really impressive and we had 10 foot long sharks swim above our heads eww. Other highlights were the crocodile, corals and the dugongs..which we had never even heard of, they were sort of a cross between a walrus and a dolphin and were beautiful animals. There are only 5 on display in the world and Sydney aquarium have 2 so it was really cool to see them.
For the celebrations at night we had another amazing meal of all the fresh seafood (chicken salad for gaily), drinks and watched the spectacular fireworks displays at 9pm and again at midnight. We couldn't have have had a better view.
